On The Line W/ The Snowmen

Back in the New York Groove

hearing the lyrics “Out On The Corner In Penny Loafers” was Love At First Listen. We’re here for the Rise of NY Band, The Snowmen

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us. We first heard you through 'You Can't Relate". Great song! Is there a full video for that or was it just a short?

Sadly, it’s just a few short videos. We shot them purely for social media with a couple of talented filmmaker friends (Noah Mezzacappa and Taylor Williams). We honestly didn’t realize there would be such a demand for a full video, which is why we made the full one for our follow-up release Prophet Margins.

Is there an album coming?

Likely an EP before a full album, but nothing is set in stone yet. There will definitely be more music released this year, whether it’s an EP/Album or a bunch of singles.

Who was the person that got you into music? Are you still in touch with them?

People we grew up around. Friends, family, music teachers. We were raised on The Beatles, Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, The Ramones…the classics.

What's been the biggest non-music inspiration for you lately?

Being in New York in our 20s is inspiring on its own. Working our day jobs, riding the subway, going to parties, all of that really drives our songwriting.

What do you think is the biggest challenge that new artists face?

The overwhelming nature of working a day job, striving for attention and exterior validation, all while tile making music and maintaining conviction in their music. Also nicotine addiction.

What's something you've had to overcome?

Everyone in the industry has an opinion, and figuring out which ones to trust can be a challenge. Also nicotine addiction.

Can you share one of your lyrics from your songs that sums up your state of mind RN / feels representative of you?

“Now is the time to make up your mind" from one of our unreleased songs currently called On My Mind, Once Again.

"Concerning my last email
Kindly fuck off
I didn't become a freelance videographer
To listen to you piss and moan
I'm the one with the camera so it's my job
To settle the shot
I will be withholding work on this project
Until you allow me more creative control
And furthermore, I will be involving lawyers
To negotiate a contract for content ownership."

- ‘Prophet Margin’ - THE SNOWMEN

Is there anyone you'd like to collaborate with? Other artists to appear on a song or even a visual artist for an album cover or merch (your merch designs are great btw).

James Murphy, Colin Newman, Home is Where, Dave Friddman, Frankie Boyles, Bad Bunny, to name a few

For the songs we've heard online, how are those being recorded? / What's the recording process?

All instruments are tracked individually. We usually record drums first and vocals last. Blues Jr for guitars. Bass DI. A lot of time mixing in Ableton. Real DIY shit.

What's been the best thing that's happened since the band started?.

The support of our friends and families, seeing new faces in the crowd, and getting to play venues we’ve seen our favorite bands play.

Have you had an "it happened for a reason" moment in the recent past?

Our first show, back in February 2024, was one of the best shows we’ve played, and really proved that we're on to something good with our music. We’re constantly trying to recreate that energy.

What platforms have been the most helpful with getting your music

heard? Bandcamp, YouTube, IG etc.

Instagram and TikTok for sure. Without our first few reels/Tiktoks getting traction, I doubt we’d be getting the attention we are right now. Good music and  cool videos work wonders.

How would you define success for the band?

Continuing to put out music that we love, reaching a broader audience and having fun while we’re doing it.
