The deluxe follow-up to ANGIE
When ANGIE first arrived, it felt like spill tab opening up in real time — melodic, intimate, and emotionally unfiltered. Now, with AngieAngieAngie, the expanded deluxe edition out via Because Music, she pushes that world a little further.
Written during and shortly after the original album sessions, the four new tracks extend the story she began on ANGIE. There’s the self-reflective pulse of “Roamer,” which arrives with a striking new visual, alongside the soulful “Suckerrr,” the soft ache of “coeur chocolat <3,” and the intimate collaboration “Paranoia” with boylife. Together they show the full range of her sound — experimental at times, but always grounded in honesty.
Since her 2019 debut single “Decompose,” spill tab has carved out a distinct lane in indie pop, blending fuzzy guitars with sharp pop instincts across projects like Oatmilk, Bonnie, and Klepto. Along the way she’s built a reputation for magnetic live shows, touring with artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Wallows, and King Princess.
With AngieAngieAngie, she’s not starting a new chapter so much as expanding the one she’s already in. These songs feel like late-night extensions of the original record — proof that the world of ANGIE was never meant to stop with one release.
For this edition of On The Line, we caught up with spill tab to talk about the evolution of ANGIE, the vulnerability behind “Roamer,” and what it means to keep building on a creative breakthrough.
Thanks for doing this. To start, what’s your hometown, and where are you currently based?
Los Angeles is where I grew up and where I live now.
What originally brought you to Los Angeles?
My people were here, my Mom was here, and the food scene is unmatched!!
Does the city you live in shape your songwriting, consciously or subconsciously?
All my favorite collaborators live in this city, and so the most special part of creating in my hometown is what happens when people come together. I'm always so influenced by those around me. I love hearing what people are listening to, movies they're watching, what museums and parks people are loving. As much as I enjoy traveling, I also love exploring this city. There's always something more to be curious about.
Who first introduced you to music in a way that really stuck with you?
My uncle gifted me my first few CDs when I was 8 or 9. One of them was NSYNC's Greatest Hits album, which is so funny to me now, but I played that CD into the ground.
Do you remember the first song or album that made you realize how powerful music could be?
I was absolutely obsessed with Nelly Furtado's album 'Loose' when I was a kid. I would make up choreography to all the songs, I would sing along to the whole album at the top of my lungs. I think I fell in love with how much music can be the soundtrack to my life.
The video for “Suckerrr” fits the song’s atmosphere beautifully. Was this your first time working with Dan Lesser on a video?
Dan directed and shot a beautiful live session in the middle of France for some ANGIE songs in 2024, I love working with him, and it doesn't hurt that he's a cutie (he's my bf).
Outside of music, what’s been inspiring you most lately?
Going on walks, and doing 3 pages of thoughtless writing in the morning. I've been doing The Artist’s Way to declutter my head and get back to basics.
The artwork for Angie and AngieAngieAngie is great! How did you first start working with Gritzky Bear, and how did the visual ideas for both projects come together?
I've been an admirer of Alex's work for so long, I love the way she paints people and how she plays with color and forms. All of it feels playful and inspired and so we worked together to make the artworks feel like an extension of the music! We started with some edited pictures, a bit collaged, and she painted everything from there.
Are there any non-music artists you’d love to collaborate with — whether in film, visual art, or another medium?
I'm a huge fan of the artist Szilveszter Mako, would be a dream to do something together one day. I also love Dashaplesen, the self proclaimed mold queen. She makes insane petri dish art out of mold and I have no idea how but I'd die to make something together one day.
If someone is discovering your music for the first time, what do you hope they feel when they walk away from it?
Intrigued…
Are there any new or emerging artists you’ve been excited about recently?
I'm loving Afternoon Bike Ride (and they're opening on this next run). They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, doggone, and Céline Dessberg.
What do you think are the biggest challenges facing artists as we move into 2026?
I can't speak for everyone but I've found it so incredibly hard to stay hopeful and vulnerable and open in a time where so much violence and depravity and war is going on. It's an ongoing fight and there is so much good in the world, and that's something that I hold on to and want to remember. That good things are always worth fighting for (no matter how bleak things may be).
How do you personally define success?
Having a large capacity for delight and joy, and a holistically full life.
Can you share one of your lyrics you’ve written that feels especially representative of where you are right now?
Hmm, been doing a lot of soul searching lately so probably the chorus from Roamer...
I don’t even know me.
Shallow and it's showing
Why does
Wanting leave me lonely?
