DC-raised, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter rum.gold (born Delonte Drumgold) continues to carve out his own lane in experimental alt-R&B with a live session of the focus track “Another Life,” taken from his two-part album Is There Anybody Home?, with Disc 1 released March 27 via Independent Co. Directed by Andi Lipo and shot by Jeremy Hartman, the performance is built around his unmistakable, almost weightless vocal, leaning into the project’s core themes — inheritance, memory, and the lingering impact of what’s passed down from childhood into adulthood. The album was introduced in reverse, with Disc 2 arriving first and Disc 1 tracing things back to the beginning, reframing the story as a nonlinear reflection on love, vulnerability, and emotional fallout. It’s the kind of song that unfolds slowly, with intention, reflecting the same thoughtful approach that’s defined his work since “Waiting For” with Jamila Woods and his breakout COLORS performance. For listeners drawn to the emotional depth of Frank Ocean or Moses Sumney, “Another Life” lands as a subtle but resonant entry point into his world — and a clear emotional center of the project.
