Positive Pressure: Belfast’s Chalk Lean In on “I.D.C.”

Belfast duo Chalk have been steadily refining a tense, electronic-driven take on post-punk, building momentum through a run of physical releases and relentless live shows. Their new single “I.D.C.” captures that evolution in its most immediate form yet. Built on industrial pulses and EBM-leaning grooves, the song plays like a night out spiraling in real time—euphoria masking collapse and release tangled up with self-destruction. There’s a physicality to “I.D.C.” that feels engineered for dark rooms and late hours, where repetition becomes catharsis and pressure is the point. Released via ALTER Music, the single lands at a moment when Chalk feel fully locked in—sound sharpened, intent clarified, and momentum matching ambition. It signals a colder, louder chapter for the band, confident enough to let the rhythm do the talking while the subtext cuts underneath. With a full-length on the horizon, Chalk sound more focused than ever.
