Debut album incoming via New Morality Zine

Chico are a California band that have steadily moved away from their earlier, more laid-back sound into something faster and more direct, pulling from alt rock, punk, and hardcore. Now signed to New Morality Zine, they’re releasing “Too Late,” a sub-two-minute single that serves as an early look at their debut album, due later this summer. The video, directed by drummer Tony Rangel (also of Death Lens), sticks to a VHS-style performance setup that gradually breaks into something more off-balance.

The release lines up with a run of shows, starting with a West Coast stretch on May 7 with Dreamcast and Free Concern, before joining Death Lens on tour this fall. The band is made up of Lance Gibson (vocals), Tony Rangel (drums), Danny Chavez and Jake Palma (guitar), and Dawson Souisa (bass).
