The long-running collaboration returns
Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman are back with the fourth installment of their long-running Lice series, Miami Lice: Season 4. Across eight tracks, the duo sound completely in their pocket, trading dense, inventive bars over production handled by Aesop. The beats move between brooding synth textures and proto-funk basslines, shifting perfectly from heavy to head-nodding bounce.
Opening track “Who Sent You” sets the tone early—sharp writing, dry humor, and the kind of effortless chemistry that has always defined the project. That dynamic really shines on standout “Burnt Mauve,” where the two trade verses back and forth like longtime sparring partners.
The partnership between Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman has always felt natural. Both are widely regarded as elite lyricists, constantly stretching language in unexpected directions. But more than that, the music works because the friendship is real. What began as mutual respect turned into a tour together in 2015, which led to the surprise release of the first Lice EP later that year.
The series has quietly become one of the most consistent collaborations in underground hip-hop. Miami Lice: Season 4keeps that run going—sharp, funny, and clearly made by two artists who genuinely enjoy working together.
