A Double Drop: New Music and a New Supreme Collaboration
For nearly two decades, Salem have remained one of the most influential and elusive groups to emerge from underground music in the late 2000s. Remember that Lana Del Rey photo? Formed by Jack Donoghue and John Holland, the Michigan group became closely associated with the rise of “witch house,” blending slowed-down hip-hop rhythms, industrial noise, shoegaze, Southern rap influences, and heavy electronic production into a sound that would later influence large parts of experimental rap, dark electronic music, and internet-era pop.
The group now returns with Red Dragon, a 31-track release that follows 2020’s Fires in Heaven and continues the bleak, fragmented sound that has defined Salem since their earliest recordings. The project arrives alongside a new collaboration with Supreme, further reflecting the band’s long-standing connection to both underground music and fashion culture. Rather than a reinvention, Red Dragon feels like another strong entry in a catalog that continues to shape artists working across genres.
